GIST AND GOSPEL WITH CONFIDENCE ON THE ISSUE OF COMFORT EMMANSION WITH IBOM AIR
A routine flight from Uyo to Lagos turned into a national talking point when a passenger refused to switch off her phone, defying cabin crew instructions. The confrontation reportedly escalated into physical assault, leading to her forceful removal from the aircraft and an embarrassing scene captured and shared online. Instead of arriving home, she ended the journey in Kirikiri Prison, until the Minister of Aviation intervened to drop charges and lift her flight ban. The incident split public opinion, with some blaming her defiance and others criticising the airline’s handling, yet the core issue remains the same — a lack of peace and obedience turned a small matter into a national scandal.
From a biblical perspective, the lesson is clear: true children of God are marked by peace and obedience to lawful authority. Whether on an aircraft, in traffic, or in a marketplace, our willingness to follow simple rules reflects both our respect for others and our witness for Christ. Disobedience and pride not only endanger relationships but can destroy reputations. As Romans 12:18 exhorts, we must strive to live peaceably with all, choosing humility over confrontation, and remembering that in God’s eyes, peacemakers are the truly wise.
