GIST AND GOSPEL Episode 1
Since 2020, stories have emerged of people destroying trust and ruining lives because they were enslaved to destructive habits. One man, entrusted with funds for a business project, gambled them away, justifying his recklessness as “putting the money to use.” Others have wasted millions meant for investments on immoral pleasures, alcohol, or gambling — proving that addiction blinds the heart and robs a person of self-control. Whether it is gambling, lust, drunkenness, or even overeating, any habit that masters you is dangerous because it slowly drives you towards ruin while convincing you that all is well.
But there is hope. The Bible declares in Galatians 5:1 that Christ has set us free, and we must not be entangled again by the yoke of slavery. Freedom begins with two steps: first, admitting there is a problem, and second, deciding to stop. No one can make that decision for you — it is personal. The speaker himself was once enslaved to gambling and alcohol, but through God’s grace, determination, and the support of the right people, he broke free. You too can be free if you decide today, seek God’s help, and surround yourself with those who push you toward victory, not destruction. True freedom is possible — and it starts now.
