COMMUNITY CLEAN UP EPISODE 4

Dr. Joseph Onoja, the Director General of The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), reminds us that caring for the environment is not just a civic duty—it is a divine act of worship. Drawing from Genesis 2:15 and Deuteronomy 23:12–14, he reveals that every time we sweep a gutter, pick up litter, or plant a tree, we are honoring God’s presence in our communities. Through real examples like the Clean Up Nigeria campaign and local sanitation drives in Jos, Uyo, and Lagos, Dr. Onoja shows how small, united actions can transform neighborhoods, prevent floods, create jobs, and build pride among citizens. A clean environment, he says, is a reflection of a clean heart—one that values both God’s creation and our neighbors’ well-being.

He calls on every listener to become a steward of change—starting right where they live. You don’t need millions to make a difference; you only need willingness and consistency. Gather your neighbors, mobilize your church group, involve children, and turn cleanup into a community culture. When we keep our surroundings clean, we save lives, protect nature, and bear witness to God’s order and beauty. As Dr. Onoja concludes, “Keeping the earth clean is keeping God’s house clean.” So this week, take a step—clean a street, clear a drain, or plant a tree—and watch how one small act can ripple into a global transformation.
